Join our team at Haliburton Forest as an Outdoor Experience Guide!
Outdoor Experience Guides are responsible for the delivery of safe and high quality outdoor, environmental & experiential education programs at Haliburton Forest. These staff facilitate, teach and lead groups of all ages and ability levels, and assist in the planning of programming. Duties go beyond just experiential guiding to include Canopy Tours, shared dog kennel work, Wolf Centre, maintenance, housekeeping, and so much more. This is a great job for expanding and improving work experience in a variety of fields while spending time in the outdoors.
We are looking for resourceful and flexible staff who are ready and willing to work hard both as part of a team and independently. A positive attitude, strong communication and customer service skills, initiative and creative problem solving are all important qualities for this position.

-A broad base of previous, hands-on experience teaching and leading active, outdoor, group focused activities
-ability to pass a Police Reference Check
-current first aid & CPR certificates
-valid driver’s license
-must enjoy working with dogs
-Completed University or College program/s in education, tourism, hospitality, fish and wildlife or a related field
-current Wilderness First Aid
-current Bronze Cross or NLS
-ability to speak and understand a second language such as German, French, etc.
-High ropes/rock climbing experience and certifications
-Guiding certifications in mountain biking, overnight canoe & hiking trips, as well as nature interpretation
Contract Dates: Minimum contract from September 2019 - March 2020, with potential extension to a full-time, year round position.
Scheduling: Minimum of 40 hours a week. Weekly schedule will vary and may include overnights and/or evenings.
Starting Pay: $15.00 an hour.
