Being stuck indoors with kids all winter isn’t fun. But sometimes it’s hard to find winter activities that both you and the kids like to do. With minimal planning and all the winter activities for families available at Haliburton Forest, this is your year to enjoy a great winter getaway. No cabin fever here!
Your family will enjoy getting physically active in nature with so much to see and do! Let Haliburton Forest do most of the planning and you can enjoy a stress-free vacation that will give you a true break from the pressures of everyday routines.
Top 3 Winter Activities for Families You’ll Want to Experience
The kids will love seeing the forest while tucked up behind you for this exhilarating adventure. Then head back to Base Camp for fuel and snacks.
2) Dog Sledding: The kids will be excited to tell their friends about this adventurous, authentic experience when they get home. Dog sledding is a very physical activity and children (6 to 15 years) share a sled with an adult to stand (unless they’re under 54 inches tall; then they sit). There are three different lengths of dog sled tours: introductory (45 minutes), half day (2 to 2.5 hours) and full day (up to 6 hours).
3) Wolf Centre - The Wolf Centre is open year-round, and winter is actually the most active season for the wolves as they take advantage of cooler temperatures and breeding season. This increased movement means you are more likely to catch a glimpse of these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. Think how delighted your kids will be to spot real wolves against the backdrop of pristine white snow. Be sure to check out the Wolf Centre exhibits, cinema, classroom, retail space, and observatory.
